I am moving back to India for a few months and was wondering if my liscence from American would work in India or would i need to get a new one.

Not really. As long as they see your license is valid then its okay.

Wrong, you'd need a new one. A drivers license is proof that you understand the laws of the road in that country, and laws vary from country to country.
Having a US license would give you a bit of an edge since they know you can drive in another country, but you will still have to get a license to legally drive in India.

I guess it won't work. You need to apply for a license called international license. Since you will be out from your country and will transfer to another place, you should understand and know the road policies and rules in that certain place.

No, you'd need a new one. A US license is not a universal license. You'd have to know the road rules in India and other technicalities.
