I've heard of a compensation for those who cared for you, even if they were not paid. How is this possible? Or is this even true?

I think it will depend on the situation surrounding the "caring" and the one you "cared for". There may have been a contract about the "not paid" condition that could be a basis for a claim.

I think it depends on the situation and if the person who cared for you is somewhat related to you, this will make a great deal of claiming a compensation.

I guess, it will be posible. As long as you will declare that the person took care of you rightfully and did not do any harm. If that so, he has the right to be properly compensated.
